Homemade sweet bread with chocolate chips

Ingredients

  • A pinch of salt
  • 3 medium-sized eggs (180 g)
  • 3 tablespoons sugar (30 g)
  • Chocolate pieces (to taste)
  • 50 g butter
  • 2 dl milk
  • 500 g flour
  • 1 tablespoon fresh yeast (15 g)

Preparation

  1. Dissolve the fresh yeast in the flour with your fingertips.
  2. Add the butter, which should be at room temperature, and mix together using your fingers.
  3. Add sugar, salt, eggs and warm milk.
  4. Knead the dough with your hands until it becomes elastic and no longer sticks to your fingers.
  5. Put in the chocolate pieces and knead a little more, until they are well mixed.
  6. Shape it into a ball, place it in a deep bowl and cover it with a dish towel. Let the dough rise for approx. 40 minutes at room temperature away from drafts.
  7. When the time is up, divide the dough into small portions and shape them as you wish: small balls or small, oblong buns.
  8. Put them in the oven at 180º for approx. 20 minutes.

This is perhaps the most classic of sweet breads. It is ideal to eat hot and fresh from the oven, with a cup of coffee or hot cocoa.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg flour
  • A pinch of salt
  • 2 medium-sized eggs (180 g)
  • 7 tablespoons butter (70 g)
  • A few drops of vanilla extract
  • 2 dl warm milk
  • 3 tablespoons fresh yeast (30 g)
  • 5 tablespoons brown sugar or honey (50 g)

Preparation

  1. First you need to dissolve the yeast. To do this, put the hot milk with sugar in a deep bowl. Let it rest for five minutes.
  2. Place the sifted flour on the counter and make a kind of volcano. Put butter, one egg, salt and vanilla extract in the middle.
  3. Add the yeast and knead everything well until it becomes a smooth dough.
  4. When the dough begins to come loose from your hands, knead it against the table until it becomes soft and elastic.
  5. Leave it covered with a dish towel until it doubles in volume (approx. 45 minutes).
  6. Divide the dough into three equal parts and roll them oblong. Braid them as if you were braiding hair.
  7. Whisk the other egg and use it to grind the braided dough using a brush.
  8. Place the braided dough on a tray greased with butter, or on parchment paper.
  9. Put it in the oven at 200 ° for 20 to 25 minutes.

Homemade sweet Christmas bread

Ingredients

  • A pinch of salt
  • Nuts and almonds (to taste)
  • 3 medium-sized eggs (240 g)
  • 8 tablespoons butter (80 g)
  • 30 grams of fresh yeast
  • 7 tablespoons brown sugar or honey (70 g)
  • Grated orange and lemon peel (10 g)
  • 2 cups flour and 3 tablespoons to rise (530 g approx.)
  • 1.2 dl warm milk and 2 tbsp to rise
  • Raisins dipped in brandy, brandy, rum or any other liquor you prefer

Preparation

  1. Mix the warm milk, yeast, three tablespoons of flour and a spoonful of sugar in a deep bowl. Cover and let it double in volume (for about 15 minutes).
  2. In another bowl, pour in the flour, the remaining sugar, and the lemon and orange peel. Make a well in the middle and add the salt, butter, two eggs, the warm milk and the fermented dough. Mix by hand and knead on the counter until the dough becomes soft and elastic.
  3. Divide in half, cover and let rise until the dough doubles in size.
  4. Place the dough on the counter and roll it out into two rectangles. Fill with raisins, almonds and walnuts. Roll up the dough and knead it again until the ingredients are well mixed in.
  5. Cover and let it rise until it has double volume (approx. 1 hour).
  6. Spread a beaten egg with a brush and cook for 40 minutes at 180º.
